深谷が生んだ日本近代経済の父、渋沢栄一翁。
新しい一万円札の肖像になります。
 それが発行される７月３日まで3か月半となった3月なかば、記念のイベントが深谷市文化会と、城址公園で催されました。

ロータリーと深谷市の共同開催。
私も１年以上前からスタッフとして準備にかかわり、
当日も受けつけや会場の係を担当しました。

２０度に達する暖かさで、風も穏やか。
この季節としてはまれにみる好天にめぐまれ、
出店がずらりと並んだ城址公園は、たくさんの人で大賑わい。

いっぽう文化会館でおこなわれたのは、
栄一翁に詳しい明治大学教授斉藤孝氏と、
FM NACK５でパーソナリティーをつとめる三遊亭鬼丸さんの公開座談会。
こちらも気持ちよく会場が埋まり、
教育学者と落語家の絶妙なトークに大勢の人が耳を傾けていました。

斉藤氏の話の中で印象的だったことば。
「自転車に乗る時、前を見ると安定するが、
　足元ばかり見ていたらふらついてしまう。
　自分のことだけを考えず、どうしたらまわりも良くなるか考えて行動すれば、
　進む道はおのずとたしかなものになる。」
当社の企業理念に通ずるものを感じました。

The figure of Fukaya-born Shibusawa Eiichi, Father of Japan’s Modern Economy, is going to be printed on the new ten-thousand bill, which is being issued on the 3^rd of July. An event to commemorate it was held at Fukaya Castle Site Park and Fukaya City Culture Hall. I took part in it as one of the staffs.

The park was full of the people who came to have good times having drinks or meals at the stalls, as the temperature rose to around twenty degrees with breeze, which we rarely experience in the time of the year.

In the hall took place a talk show of Saitou Takashi, pedagogy professor at Meiji University and comic storyteller Sanyutei Onimal. A lot of citizens came to listen to them. Professor Saito said “When you ride a bicycle, it doesn’t go straight if you keep your eyes down on the ground.  It is important to have a wide outlook in business as well. Think and move for not only yourself but also all concerned.” It has something in common with our company’s Philosophy.
